Drive when you Can?

If you love driving , if you have a dream car you always wanted to drive and if you can afford it, now is the time to get it. It may be too late if you wait.

Tomorrow is the world of self driving cars where human driving will be considered as a huge risk to the society. It may not even be an option at some point in the future.

When you drive in your normal route to office or home, how many times have you forgotten that you are driving and still reached your destination. Your brain does it all sometimes without your full attention but your response time may be way lower during those times. How many times in a day do you get distracted during driving? How many times in a day do you take your eyes off the road during driving?

I have heard from many that they won’t trust a machine or a self driving car. In fact humans are the most dangerous drivers who can get distracted due to so many reasons. A machine will never get distracted nor will it get tired. It will operate the way it is designed for, in much better way. A machine will never drive in the wrong way and kill people. I was recently reading about such a tragic accident of death of a family by a wrong side driver.

Self driving cars will pave the way for a safer road where humans will be treated as dangerous drivers soon. I still remember the iRobot manual override scene where Will Smith is warned not to do manual driving as it is dangerous.

With the advance of deep learning where machine learns from huge amount of examples, yes it can take a wrong decision or recognizing something. Same is the case of humans but with lot more probability of making a mistake.

Self driving is here and it is the future. 2019 will be start of the era of self driving cars. So if you love a car and love driving, get it now.
